Joint Seminar

The BAC ran a successful joint Seminar with the Smoke/Tipped Persian BAC on Sunday 12th July, at The Sutton Hall, Stockcross, near Newbury. Probationer Judges had the opportunity to assess the eleven cats on exhibition, and there were presentations by Anne Gregory on Withholding Faults; Rita Quick on breeding Tabbies and Celia de Martino on degrees of tipping and shading, plus questions and answers. It was also an enjoyable social occasion, a time to chat with friends over lunch and tea. With thanks to everyone who helped to make the day go with a swing.

This was approved by Executive at their meeting held on 18th March 2009, and comes into effect immediately.

PKD in Persians

The Tabby Persian BAC recommends that all Persian and Exotic Shorthair cats used for breeding are tested for PKD (Polycystic Kidney Disease). Click the link to University of California Davis for details on DNA testing for PKD. The test is quick, simple, painless and inexpensive to undertake. Kittens can be tested from a few weeks old.
